Two-Year Full-time Residential MBA Course

Introduction: Candidates are welcome to seek admission for an American MBA programme, offered in India by the Jesuit-run University of Detroit-Mercy, Detroit , USA , in collaboration with Xavier Institute, Jabalpur – a Jesuit-run, Xavier-Brand Management Institute.

This is a two-year, full-time, residential course, which will be offered primarily in India and also partly in USA . The students will spend most of their time of study at Xavier Institute, Jabalpur , and towards the end they will go to USA for a period of five weeks, for completing the courses and to participate in the graduation ceremony.

The students will receive their MBA Degree from the University of Detroit-Mercy.

Most of the courses (both in India and in USA) will be taught by the highly qualified and experienced Faculty of the University of Detroit-Mercy, while some of the courses will be taught by qualified and experienced Faculty of Xavier Institute, Jabalpur.

One Semester in USA -- Three Semesters in India

Exposure Visits to Major Cities and Important Places in USA (Optional)

The students will spend three Semesters at Xavier Institute, Jabalpur and one Semester in the University of Detroit-Mercy, USA.

While doing the final Semester in USA , the students will be able to visit some of the major cities and places of importance. The Institute will assist them in arranging these programmes. However, each student will have to pay the cost of these programmes, if he/she wants to take part in these programmes.

Eligibility: Any Graduate/Postgraduate student with at least 50% marks in the aggregate of either of these Degrees, and with MAT/XAT/CAT or GMAT score can apply for this course. If someone has professional work experience of six years or more, he/she does not need to have any Entrance Test Score for admission.

The Academic Programme: The course consists of 18 credit hours of Foundation Courses and 36 credit hours of core (obligatory) courses, including 9 credit hours of electives courses (specializations).

Placement and Employment: There is a bright future for employment. On successful completion of their studies, the outgoing students of MBA will be absorbed in different Organizations through a systematic placement procedure of the Institute.

Basis of Admission: Qualifying Degree Marks, Academic Performance in the Past, MAT/XAT/CAT or GMAT Score or at least six years of Professional Work Experience, English Language Capability Test, and the Institute’s GD & PI. Those who have not appeared for any Entrance Test so far can send in their application immediately and appear for the September 2010 MAT Entrance Test. The September 2010 MAT Score can be sent as soon as the result is available.

Fees: The total fee is around Rs. 1,100,000 (with some minor variations). This amount is to be remitted in two instalments (Rs. 397,750 at the beginning of the first year and Rs. 708,250 at the beginning of the second year. This amount includes all the expenses – registration fee, course fee, text books, uniform, special services, travel to and from USA , board and lodge in USA , etc. The Hostel Fee in Jabalpur (including room rent and 3 meals) will be extra and this amount will vary between Rs. 22,400 and 50,000 per year, depending upon the type of room one opts for.
